Mastering the sweet things in life at The Art of Puddings home cookery school in Queens Park
Tucked away in one of the leafy side streets behind Salusbury Road in Queens Park is The Art of Puddings – a pocket home cookery school run by freelance TV producer and passionate cook, Sue Aron. Her intimate, hands-on pudding making classes are just the ticket for devotees of the sweet things in life. The emphasis is on informality and fun while expanding your dessert repertoire around the large kitchen table in her fabulous, well-equipped kitchen.
Classes are limited to six people and take place twice a week – daytime and evenings. You’ll learn how to cook delicious desserts using fresh, seasonal ingredients which you can then take home and enjoy with family and friends. The courses cover classic puddings, cakes, tarts, flans, sorbets and mousses. Things I have never attempted to cook before! She supplies all the ingredients, light refreshments and a goody bag containing your desserts, recipes and a stylish kitchen gift. All you need to do is book and turn up!
The best way to do it is to get a group of six people together and make it a fun day out. It’s a really relaxed atmosphere and Sue’s a great teacher and makes you feel right at home. My other tip is to ask to make the warm chocolate chilli fondant – it’s divine, and best eaten there and then whilst drinking tea and looking out over the garden!
